The adventures of Ben Cartwright and his sons has entertained fans around the world for decades and can be seen on CBS Drama weekdays at 9am in Bonanza.

10: There were 431 episodes recorded between 1959 to 1973.

9: In 2002 the theme tune was ranked number 43 in an all time greatest list by TV Guide.

8: The theme also had lyrics written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. Here’s a sample:

7: It was the first network TV series that aired completely in colour.

6: The character of Hoss had the christian name Eric.

5: A prequel series named Ponderosa ran for 20 episodes in 2001.

4: The four Cartwright men released an album in 1964 named "Christmas at the Ponderosa".

3: A ponderosa is a form of pine, Pinus ponderos which means heavy pine.

2: The four main leads were given equal billing. Check out the titles and their names are usually in a different order.
